What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of bones gradually wears down, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

Common Symptoms:

• Joint pain and stiffness (especially after rest or in the morning)

• Swelling around joints

• Difficulty in movement

• Crunching or grating sensation in joints

Risk Factors:

• Age above 40 years

• Obesity

• Previous joint injury

• Family history of arthritis

• Sedentary lifestyle

Treatment & Management:

• Lifestyle changes – Regular exercise, weight control, healthy diet

• Medications – Pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs

• Physiotherapy – Strengthening muscles around joints

• Injections – For severe cases, steroid or hyaluronic acid injections

• Surgery – Joint replacement in advanced stages

ऑस्टियोआर्थराइटिस क्या है?

ऑस्टियोआर्थराइटिस (OA) गठिया का सबसे आम प्रकार है। इसमें जोड़ों की हड्डियों को ढकने वाली परत (cartilage) धीरे-धीरे घिस जाती है, जिससे दर्द, जकड़न और चलने-फिरने में दिक्कत होने लगती है।

मुख्य लक्षण:

• जोड़ों में दर्द और जकड़न (खासकर सुबह या आराम के बाद)

• सूजन आना

• चलने-फिरने में कठिनाई

• जोड़ों से खटखट या घिसने जैसी आवाज़

जोखिम कारक:

• उम्र 40 साल से अधिक

इलाज और प्रबंधन:
