ERYSIPELAS

 Erysipelas is a bacterial infection that affects the upper layers of the skin. It is characterized by a red, swollen, and warm rash, usually with a well-defined edge. The condition is caused primarily by the Group A Streptococcus bacteria (Streptococcus pyogenes), the same bacteria responsible for strep throat and some cases of cellulitis. Key Features of Erysipelas: Appearance: The affected area is red, raised, and tender with clearly defined borders. It often looks shiny and swollen. Location: It most commonly occurs on the face and legs but can appear anywhere on the body. Symptoms: In addition to the rash, symptoms may include fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, and a general feeling of being unwell. Onset: The infection often starts suddenly, and the affected area can become large within hours.
