🧠 Understanding Syphilis / सिफिलिस को समझिए

🔹 Introduction / परिचय

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a bacterium called Treponema pallidum.
It spreads mainly through sexual contact, but can also pass from a pregnant woman to her baby (congenital syphilis).
सिफिलिस एक यौन संचारित रोग (STD) है जो Treponema pallidum नामक बैक्टीरिया से होता है। यह मुख्य रूप से संभोग के दौरान फैलता है और गर्भवती महिला से बच्चे में भी जा सकता है।

⚠️ Stages of Syphilis / सिफिलिस के चरण

Syphilis progresses in four stages, each with distinct symptoms.

1️⃣ Primary Syphilis / प्रारंभिक चरण

• Appears 3 weeks after infection

• Single painless ulcer (chancre) on genital area, mouth, or rectum

• The sore heals by itself, but infection continues inside the body
  ➡️ यह चरण संक्रमण के 3 हफ्ते बाद आता है।
  ➡️ जननांगों, मुंह या गुदा पर एक बिना दर्द का छाला (chancre) बनता है।
  ➡️ यह अपने आप ठीक हो सकता है, पर रोग शरीर में फैलता रहता है।

2️⃣ Secondary Syphilis / द्वितीय चरण

• Occurs weeks to months later

• Symptoms:

  • Skin rashes, often on palms and soles

  • Fever, sore throat, hair loss

  • Swollen lymph nodes
    ➡️ यह चरण हफ्तों या महीनों बाद आता है, जिसमें त्वचा पर चकत्ते, बुखार, गले में दर्द, और बाल झड़ना जैसी शिकायतें होती हैं।

3️⃣ Latent Syphilis / गुप्त चरण

• No symptoms, but infection persists silently

• Can last for years
  ➡️ इस चरण में कोई लक्षण नहीं होते, पर संक्रमण शरीर में छिपा रहता है।

4️⃣ Tertiary Syphilis / तृतीय चरण

• Appears after many years if untreated

• Can damage heart, brain, nerves, eyes, or liver
  ➡️ यह सबसे खतरनाक चरण है जिसमें हृदय, मस्तिष्क, नसों, आंखों और यकृत को नुकसान पहुंच सकता है।

🧪 Diagnosis / जांच

Diagnosis is done by:

• Blood tests (VDRL, RPR, TPHA)

• Direct detection of the bacteria under microscope
  ➡️ जांच के लिए रक्त परीक्षण (VDRL, RPR, TPHA) किए जाते हैं।

💊 Treatment / उपचार

• Penicillin injection is the treatment of choice.

• Early treatment completely cures syphilis.

• Sexual partners should also be treated.
  ➡️ सिफिलिस का इलाज पेनिसिलिन इंजेक्शन से किया जाता है।
  ➡️ समय पर इलाज से रोग पूरी तरह ठीक हो जाता है।
  ➡️ साथी का इलाज भी आवश्यक है।

🚫 Prevention / बचाव

• Practice safe sex (use condoms)

• Regular STI testing for sexually active individuals

• Avoid multiple sexual partners

• Screening in pregnancy to prevent congenital syphilis
  ➡️ सुरक्षित यौन संबंध, कंडोम का प्रयोग, और गर्भवती महिलाओं की जांच से बचाव संभव है।
