🦟 What is Malaria? / मलेरिया क्या है?

Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite named Plasmodium, transmitted by the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito.
मलेरिया एक मच्छर से फैलने वाली बीमारी है जो Plasmodium नामक परजीवी से होती है। यह मादा एनोफिलीज मच्छर के काटने से फैलती है।

🔍 Types of Malaria / मलेरिया के प्रकार

1️⃣ Plasmodium vivax (P. vivax) – Common in India, causes mild to moderate fever.
2️⃣ Plasmodium falciparum (P. falciparum) – Most dangerous, can affect brain, liver, and kidney.
3️⃣ Mixed infection – Both vivax and falciparum together.
4️⃣ P. malariae / P. ovale – Rare in India.

⚠️ Symptoms of Malaria / मलेरिया के लक्षण

• High fever with chills and shivering (कंपकंपी के साथ तेज बुखार)

• Headache, vomiting, body pain (सिरदर्द, उल्टी, बदन दर्द)

• Sweating and weakness after fever

• In severe cases – Jaundice, confusion, less urine, unconsciousness

🧪 Diagnosis / जांच

• Blood Test (Peripheral Smear or Rapid Test) – confirms type of malaria

• CBC Test – checks anemia and platelets

• Liver & Kidney Tests – for severe cases

💊 Treatment of Malaria / मलेरिया का इलाज

🔹 1️⃣ Vivax Malaria Treatment (P. vivax)

Medicines:

• Chloroquine – for 3 days

• Primaquine – for 14 days (kills malaria parasite from liver and prevents relapse)

⚠️ Note: Primaquine is not given to pregnant women or people with G6PD deficiency.

मलेरिया विवैक्स का इलाज:

• क्लोरोक्विन – 3 दिन तक

• प्राइमाक्विन – 14 दिन तक (लीवर से परजीवी हटाने के लिए)

🔹 2️⃣ Falciparum Malaria Treatment (P. falciparum)

Medicines (ACT – Artemisinin Combination Therapy):

• Artemether + Lumefantrine for 3 days

• Single dose of Primaquine on Day 2 (kills transmission stage)

If severe → IV Artesunate injection in hospital + supportive care (fluids, paracetamol, blood transfusion if needed)

फाल्सीपेरम मलेरिया का इलाज:

• आर्टीमीथर + ल्यूमिफेंट्रिन – 3 दिन तक

• प्राइमाक्विन – केवल एक दिन

• गंभीर स्थिति में – IV आर्टेसुनेट इंजेक्शन अस्पताल में दिया जाता है

🔹 3️⃣ Mixed Malaria (P. vivax + P. falciparum)

Treat as Falciparum malaria (use ACT regimen)

• Primaquine for 14 days after test for G6PD.

मिक्स मलेरिया का इलाज:
फाल्सीपेरम मलेरिया की तरह दवा दी जाती है,
साथ में प्राइमाक्विन 14 दिन तक।

🏥 Supportive Care / सहायक उपचार

• Drink plenty of water and ORS

• Light, nutritious food

• Paracetamol for fever

• Complete full course of medicines (don’t stop early)

• Regular follow-up with doctor

🚫 Prevention of Malaria / मलेरिया से बचाव

✅ Use mosquito nets and repellents
✅ Keep surroundings clean and dry
✅ Wear full sleeve clothes
✅ Close doors and windows in evening
✅ Use mosquito coil or vaporizer at night
