2. Call Emergency Services:
Immediately call emergency services or get the person to the nearest medical facility.
3. Keep the Bite Below the Heart:
If possible, keep the affected limb immobilized and positioned at or below the level of the heart to reduce the spread of venom.
4. Remove Tight Clothing and Jewelry:
Gently remove any rings, watches, or tight clothing near the bite area, as swelling may occur.
5. Clean the Wound:
Gently clean the bite with soap and water if available, but do not flush it with water or apply ice.
6. Cover the Bite:
Cover the bite with a clean, dry dressing or bandage.
7. Do Not:
Do not try to suck out the venom.
Do not apply a tourniquet.
Do not apply ice directly to the bite.
Do not cut the wound.
Do not give the person anything to eat or drink, especially alcohol or caffeine.
8. Monitor the Victim:
Watch for signs of shock (e.g., weakness, confusion, or loss of consciousness) and be ready to perform CPR if needed.
9. Identify the Snake:
If it’s safe to do so, try to remember the snake’s color, size, and markings for identification purposes, but do not attempt to catch or kill the snake.
10. Reassure the Victim:
Keep the person calm and reassured while waiting for medical help to arrive.
